What happens to your personal data when you create an account on the Political Exchange?

The details that we hold for you as a candidate only include information that we have obtained from published sources.  In most cases this is simply data collected from party websites or candidate websites.  This information may be visible to the public in the address block of the messages that local voters send to you.  The exceptions are telephone number and email address which are not publicly displayed anywhere.

What do we do with your data record?  Apart from storing your data record in our software to allow local voters to send you messages, your information is not released to any third party under any circumstance.  It is not available for download by campaigning organisations using our e-activist software.  It is not sold or distributed in any way.

What about the comments that you publish using the Political Exchange?

Whatever you write up as your personal position on an issue, or your party’s position on an issue, is made public.  This is of course the point of the software:  to encourage dialogue.  You comments can be downloaded by campaigning organisations.  Your comments are visible to local voters writing to you on the issue.  They are entirely public.  They are not sold to any third party.
